I will never understand peoples infatuation with LA.
Chinatown, haz-matguru and Speedy356 Thank this. -
As a fellow texan I was on the same boat, but a change of scenery would benefit us. Plus if its too bad we can always move back.RockinChair Thanks this.

Try Cox Petroleum and Thompson and Harvey. I believe T & H is hiring and I know they train. I can vouch for them being good people too. There are a ton of other companies down there that I'm not personally familiar with.
I do think hauling fuel sucks and second whoever said to get a cryo job.Tcoop34 Thanks this. -
@Tcoop34 --
Current fuel hauler here.
Most of my deliveries are in more rural areas of southern GA and northern FL.
Also....a lot of my deliveries are during night-time.
Thus...my interactions with the motoring public are fairly limited.
But in southern California, delivering fuel I'm sure is a totally different world.
Because of what it is like there now in southern Calf--after you make some fuel deliveries and see what it's really like to deliver there, I'm reasonably sure that you will soon ask yourself, "what in the world was I thinking?"....

One way to sidestep this problem is to go with what has been suggested above--look at doing cryogenics work, instead.
The pay is great, the work is easy (once you get the hang of it)....and your deliveries will pretty much all be in a professional setting--usually behind a fenced-in area, with limited access.
All the inconsiderate idiots will be somewhere else--outside the fence.

Thanks drivers for yall input. Yall made some great points. Im currently looking into doing cryo. If I cant get into that than I'll just settle for delivering fuel. Yikes the thought of delivering fuel in LA traffic, and the several "interesting" pedestrians they got there is already giving me headaches.

If it were me, I’d try for Sentinel Transportation or Superior Tank Lines.

I currently work for Marathon Petroleum (Arco) in southern cali. I could tell you that the job is as easy or as hard as you want to make it. Yes traffic is terrible out here which is why I work nights 3-4pm start time. 12.5 hours max. Our schedule is 4/10’s so you get 3 consecutive days off. Teamster open shop, 3 weeks vacation
-
Marathon seems like a great gig. Although, I don’t know how anyone could survive on 4/10s in Southern California. What’s the wage?
-
I completely agree, that’s why I work 12 hours. You could stretch out a 10 hour day to 12 hours. OT is also available on our days off. I usually work 60-70 hours per week. Rate is at $28.60 for day drivers, $29.60 night drivers
