Why don’t you use the “search” on top here on TTR and write Landstarve, ……oops, I meant “Landstar” and you see thousands of threads/post about them.
Company to o/o. Where do I begin?

Not for another 2 years at least.
Unless you have a suicidal wish.
And not Landstar.
Words from the wise. -
The only thing working against them is the timing.
Right now is a really bad market.
By design, of course.
You should have mentioned the diesel price,
the low freight rates and the high maintenance and parts costs.
Parts availability is a major issue too.
The downtime is the worst threat for a starting operation.NYStarcar Thanks this. -

Right now is a horrible time to get started in the O/O market. Prices of everything is still high while rates are down. You need to figure out what kinda O/O you wanna be. Wanna be leased to a carrier and find ur own loads. Wanna do a power only gig. Power only that's force dispatch. You have a lot to figure out.

For purchasing a first truck, develop a list of the top 3 things/criteria that are important to you in a truck. Search various dealerships and using your criteria develop a list of potential trucks. Then run a RigDig report on ones that appear acceptable. It may help narrow your list even more. Take your top 1 or 2 options, test drive, negotiate on the price letting the seller know any offer is contingent on an inspection. Pay to have the truck inspected. The $250 paid for inspection may seem like a lot up front, but it may save you thousands down the road.

I am with land star. But I speak very unbiasedly.
Some reasons for leasing on with any carrier is the discounts and The weekly settlements. Out side of that they all have there on little aggravating issuses.
Do you best to stay away from the newer cascadias these wiring issues are enough to drive one mad.
Secondly, either try and buy your truck out right or have 2 to 4 months worth of payments saved up. You'll thank.me later.
Deffintly not the last or least but I will end it here. If your behind on your personal bills but have nice toys in your yard. Then this isn't for you. Because one break down and your upside down not just on your personal bills but now also your business bills as well.
My frame of mind when I got into this was very simple. I just need to make what I'm making as a company driver after all expenses and I'll be ok.
Good luck what ever you decide. But after 19 years you know way more than I do. -
Merrell Transport, LLC

This company will hire 0/0's and the age of the truck doesn't matter.
- All year tractors considered and E Log exempt trucks accepted
- There is no minimum on the year of trucks but all trucks must pass an in house inspection for the Department of Transportation standards.
