Unfortunately I only have two months experience so although they broke our contract looks like I'll have to go back. Just deciding how much to fight them on the contract terms.
I've heard just as bad things with them. It's messed up that their business model is to chew us up then spit us out as rookies. I don't want a silver spoon but can at least give some common decency.

Still have four loads I've not been paid for, probably never will be - well there's a tiny bit of hope one from the first week of this Ferguson account will eventually get paid but I'm not holding my breath. Think Western and Werner both have the same business model.
-
I had a lumper fee I paid out of pocket, took 2 1/2 months to get reimbursed. They'll do anything in their power to screw ya overFlat Earth Trucker and JoeyJunk Thank this.

To begin with, NEVER pay for anything out of pocket. They say we need X to unload your trailer, say, well I guess that's between you and Western Express. Give them a call and let me know how it works out.
They, (the receivers), know that you're either a noob who knows nothing or a looser on his last company. So they think they can take advantage of you. Just be respectful and say no.
Jus sayin.
Second, Werner is actually a pretty good company. I sincerely doubt that they haven't paid you. Maybe you didn't do your paperwork right or whatever, but Werner is not known for screwing their drivers out of money.
Finally, to the OP, I (we) don't know exactly what your status is. Are you fired or are you waiting for a new trainer?88 Alpha, Flat Earth Trucker, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this. -
I know not to pay now. It was my first solo load and my trainer never went over that situation with me. I called the company but it was between night shift leaving and day shift coming in and I just wanted to end my shift at that point.
My current status is fired (from what I understand), they're in the process of rehiring me.Flat Earth Trucker and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Dude, make sure you have ComChecks. That's how we pay these people.
Never, never, never pay out of your pocket.

Crappy thread. Sorry for all you’ve gone through.
There’s gonna be more bumps ahead. The good news is, you’ll overcome em.
Be safe, bud. See ya on the road. -
I think this is the only thread I’ve read all the way through. What a show! It’s unconscionable that they treated in this manner.
First, congrats on your sobriety. That’s a big deal. Even more so that through this debacle you’ve stayed sober. Hell, I’m proud of you for that alone and I don’t even know you.
Second, although waiting a year is the proverbial golden ticket, many companies that train will take you and retrain you. Don’t let yourself be abused and lose faith in your potential due to a piss poor company and dismal training.
I trained for a flatbed company in western MS. They hired a couple people from WE and ran them through training. I had one of them for 6 weeks. They were looked at as fresh out of school due to WE’s reputation. It was crazy what that guy didn’t know. He didn’t know how to pretrip a truck. Said they spent a day in school on the subject then the trainer never pretripped the truck with him, so he thought a pretrip was unimportant. It took a few weeks to get his confidence up, but he wound up being a good driver.
Hopefully you don’t hang it up and stick with it. If you walk away after all this I honestly wouldn’t blame you though.
Good luck!Space Truckin, JoeyJunk, mjd4277 and 3 others Thank this. -
Thank you! Sobriety is definitely not easy but I remind myself it's worth it. I should be hearing back from WE tomorrow or Tuesday, I want to fight them on this contract mess because of their termination without notice. That cost me a lot of money and stress. I'm back at a level of calm I was before going into training and I'm excited to go back into it with the guidance I've gotten from everyone here.Space Truckin, Boondock, JoeyJunk and 3 others Thank this.

Well it's official, I go back tomorrow. The company accepts no responsibility for the way they handled things and I have 143 days left with these God forsaken people.
