I would not give that much for that truck. If you wait the price of these trucks are about to bottom out. You could probably find a better deal by looking at trucks close to you. ENGS Financial will work with you on financing. You don’t have to use a dealership to help you find a bank. Dealerships make a killing in kick backs by getting you to sign with their preferred banking partners.

Those old surplus Halliburton trucks would do fine in Alaska,I've worked for companies that ran similar old trucks with a lot more miles than these.
They have low miles but high engine hours due to frac work, running the pto.
If you were to get a dyno test and full inspection done by a good mechanic you would know what you are buying.
I've driven a lot of Halliburton trucks, most could use some engine tuning and other tlc but generally they are in good condition.
One of those trucks for $50 k or a freightliner with 700,000 miles for $100,000 k?
I'd go with the old KW every time.Last Call Thanks this. -
My friend bought this surplus truck last spring.2016 peterbilt,It's like new.Money maker.

Wrong time of the year to step into business as a New truck owner. It will probably break you. Being honest. It's a tough market now. Speaking from 5. Yrs exp. It's not getting better for some time I'd wait it out and buy that same truck when it's for sale under 40k because it got a report because someone paid 120k when prices were threw the roof

Another bankruptcy in the making....

$84,000 asking price - $11,000 down payment
= $73,000 financed
I get around 30.5% APR.
If you’re gonna do it I’d recommend making sure the contract has no prepayment penalties so you can pay it off early without extra fees.
The interest rate sucks but if you’re slamming extra payments into the principal you’re effectively buying that interest rate down.
BennysPennys, Truck baba and LoneRanger Thank this. -
Right now, there's nothing exciting to do with that truck. These prices can only go lower. Might as well wait like 6 - 8 months and get it for $55 000. It is not like you'd be missing out on digging out golden nuggets. One thing, you can bet on though, is another $20K - 30K on repairs and maintenance before you'll have run your first 100 000 miles with it.
As far as ISX vs other engines, it is a matter of luck and how you feel the truck when you test drive it...best to take it to a friendly mechanic to check things out.401-Alex Thanks this. -
That deal + not having work lined up spells trouble. I would stay away.
Truck baba and 401-Alex Thank this. -
They sale trucks like that at the Auction for 40-45k all day . Sounds like a terrible idea , save up 50k and buy a truck with a rebuilt D60 and be good .
401-Alex and Truck baba Thank this.
