Bought the truck used last week. Half of the gauge cluster is not working. Has constant ABS light on, and intermittent CHECK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM light and warning beeper. I’m in the process of cleaning and testing all ground connections. Has anyone ran into this before and if so do you remember what it took to fix it?

Which gauges are not working? Do they do the sweep test when you turn the key on?
The Check Electrical System light can come on for several reasons one being bad
datalink connection. If its the engine gauges, tach speedo oil pres and temperature
are not working then its most likely you have a datalink problem.

All instruments do the sweep test as the should when you turn the key on. After starting truck, speedometer, tach, temp gauge, and oil pressure do not work.

The instrument panel is not seeing the J1939 datalink from the sound of it.
Do you have a scanner of some sort that you could plug into the diagnostic port?

Yes, it’s showing an active 639-14 (primary vehicle network, previously j1939)?

Take a meter and with the key off measure between the j1939 pins in the diagnostic connector. The reading should be close to 60 Ohms. With the key off measure between each of the j1939 pins and ground the reading should be infinite. With the key on measure between each of the j1939 pins and a good ground the reading should be close to 2.5 volts with one being slightly higher than the other. Pins C and D.
