Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

NO ONE has worked for TRL? Gee they must have a bigtime driver shortage! :smt043

I worked there from December 94 to May 2000. The pay sucked at the time I worked there. They used to have a "sliding pay scale" How long a trip was depended on how many CPM you got paid. When I left, I believe the scale was something like
Solo:
0-150 38cpm
150-300 36 cpm
300-700 34 cpm
700-1200 33 cpm
1200-1800 31 cpm
1800+ 29cpm
Teams 36 CPM all miles
or something to that effect.
Nice miles if you could get on the west coast solo fleet.
At the time I worked there, they were more of a team oriented company. Teams got all the miles, were first to get freight in low freight conditions, got the new equipment first. Things may have changed though since 2000.
Most of the dispatchers were nice folks at the time but once again, my information is 6.5 years out of date. They did contact me in 2003 wanting me to return to work their Canada fleet. At the time, I was living in central NY. I told them no due to not wanting to deal with security and crap that was going on at that time due to 9/11.
Now the bad news (the reason I left-once again almost 7 years out of date) Their maintenance program SUCKED!! They refused to get any major repairs on the road. They only had (have?) the one terminal in Pittston PA. They tried sending me to Calexico California in June with NO A/C while it was 100+ degrees. They refused to get the A/C repaired on the road. They refused to get most work done on the road unless it was ABSOLUTELY an IMMEDIATE safety concern. And then it was after fighting and arguing with me about safety and whether I was only being a problematic newbie trucker and not the super 750 mile a day, scale dodging driver they wanted.
As I stated though, things may be different now. My information is definitely out dated. I would find and ask a driver on the road or wait for another driver to reply here.
Hope this helps.

Thanks much TL....They don't sound too promising!
Anyone else?

yeah, most repairs by "some" company's are done at the company shop. A/C repairs are one of them, as no one really seems to knowhow to repair an A/C system, but yet, charge so much for those repairs.
now, several years ago, a former co-worker of mine (and this info is dated as well), when he went to work there, the miles were terrible, and above all else, he had to pay for load locks, padlock, and a few other items that a driver is REQUIRED TO HAVE, but the company makes you pay for it.
needless to say, each week his paycheck was "short" those expenses, and he finally quit as he was paying THEM to work there....
he tried re-applying to my company, but they wouldn't take him back.
all info is several years old as i said........ -
Stay the #### away fro T.R.L.
I have been driving for six years and T.R.L. was by far THE worst company I ever drove for.
I drove for them for Three months earlier this year from march till june of 06.
Pay hassles EVERY week, that never got squared away.
I live in Connecticut and thouight their N.E.regional fleet would work for me .
I liked the idea of being home every weekend , which I will say they were pretty good about.Unfortunatley after the pay hassles ,I wouldn't have much money to kick back at the house with.
My on time record was excellent , and they then talked me into driving on their "Excell" fleet.
The miles sucked there too.
The equipment was embarrassing , The trailers were the most decrepit pieces of crap, I was in a shop almost every day with trailer problems.
I was even ordered off a shippers property at the Budweiser in Baldwinville ,N.Y.
When the security guard opened the trailer door , it nearly fell on top of him.
Of course they refused to load that trailer,It was typical of the trailers.
They haul alot of Poland Springs water loads..That are hardly ever ready, and make you wait 8-10 hours to get loaded.
The dispatch was O.K., they were real nice when they lied to your face.
In a nutshell, the company sucks in SOOOO many ways..
I gave them 3 months to pull their head out...3 months too long.
I bailed and am with a good company now.
.
Stay far away from them guys ..Real bad news. -
TRL along with many other companies...............LONG GONE, thank goodness......
