    How? I've traveled I-84 in New York more times than I can count. Where was there a sign gantry low enough to scalp a van?

    at or about 5-5:30 AM, he must have fallen asleep, and drifted into the sign support.

    The accident occurred near Middletown,about 5-10 minutes east of the Pennsylvania state line. Chances are he was probably flying down one of the downgrades when he whacked into it.
