Of course, undoubtedly started within the big cities by people who forgot how they got their goods or those too sophisticated to be bothered by them. You know the rich who could afford the automobile while the poor were probably taxed into hell because they could only afford ol red out there in the stables. The ones who didn’t need one or could afford an automobile crying about the stink and whining about the danger of horses within the populated areas. Isn’t it funny that years later those with money pay a premium to own property to house the expensive horses they use as trophies and show off to friends with…
Of course for those who could afford it an automobile was a big step up from saddling a horse and riding 20 miles so some would say that wasn’t a bad trade… those of us that live long enough will no doubt be driving electric in the near future whether you want to or not… even though the comparison of a horse to an automobile sounds absurd now… you can still own and ride your horses in the cities in many places nowadays without being fined or taxed and those are the places I choose to live because any local politicians suggesting otherwise would be hung out to dry.

Not so much. Take a look at the Good Roads Movement, particularly where it's members were located and where it's funding came from.

I don’t think this is an apple to apple comparison. EV’s will not move goods faster or even cheaper. I’d venture to say the opposite in fact. People seem to think EV’s are a new invention. They are not. They were in direct competition with the internal combustion engine. They were plagued with the same issues they are plagued with today over 120 years later.
They are NOT more environmentally friendly!! They are NOT more efficient. They are NOT cheaper to build, buy or maintain. They ARE simply a greenies pie in the sky wet dream.ducnut, dwells40, SteveScott and 1 other person Thank this. -

That’s ludicrous. You can’t argue the facts so you just make lame accusations. Typical…ducnut Thanks this.

I did the math and figured over 5 years. A battery would be much cheaper then gas. For me.
dwells40 Thanks this. -
Care to share the math?

the cost of a battery bank replacement after two years vs the cost of two years of equivalent diesel...
the entire battery bank contents (material) being actually recoverable...dwells40 Thanks this. -
You have more cost. You have to pay for the electricity. The battery doesn’t hold a charge for two years it isn’t a nuclear reactor.
