That’s a sad deal. It sounds like the plane had just arrived, so the engines would still be running. Ground crew know better. Complacency kills.

Guy should have waited for engine shutoff before getting up in front of the engine. Probably a luggage handler.

It was a woman actually. And there’s going to be a lot of questions on this one. Were the anti-collision beacons still activated when the engine was running? Was the ramp area properly painted/marked showing where not to cross in front of the engines? The plane was parked at the gate with the parking brake engaged. The aircraft was an Embraer EMB-175 model.

Was working the flight deck on Forrestal back in 1971 and saw a guy go down the intake of an F4 Phantom. He lived. Shook up my pilot though. Access to the vanes on an F4 not as easy as on a commercial jet. I think that's a more dangerous job than ours.

That sucks!

Yeah, I read about that. Couple years back, a Navy(?) personnel got sucked into a fighter jet engine, and the the only thing that saved him was the straps from his vest stopped the rotor blades. Apparently, this gal wasn't so lucky.
