Rule of thumb: if you’re not as happy with your partner in a Super 8 eating pizza as you are on a date at a 5 star restaurant, you didn’t find the right one.

One of things about relationships I’ve ever read. Brilliant.

I agree in part with what you say. These are my thoughts they pertain to me only.
I have worked my entire life. I filed my 1st income tax at 13. Education and religion are things that aren't important to some of us. We just roll with it. Having said that, lack of common sense is a deal breaker for MOST people.
I have no need to be supported financially, nor do I feel that I should support someone else financially. Having said that, I have dated and married across a WIDE spectrum of men, some taller, some my height (5"2). Some older, some younger (I'm 65). Some with more assets than me and some with less. I've been married to men that beat my ### just because they could. And there were some I SHOULD have beaten myself. But for the most part I don't care to get in a physical or verbal confrontation, it's just not worth it. But make no mistake abuse is something that no one should tolerate, I have NO room for that.
I have, as I have gotten older, made decisions call it changing my standards if you want, about what I need in a relationship from someone else and will not deviate from that. I also know what I am willing to give in the relationship. No one wants to be taken for granted, used and cast aside, it's very painful and difficult to deal with at that given time. Later you look back a wonder why it was so painful, or at least I do.
I agree 100% that having someone that you can depend on, communicate with and enjoy being around is priceless but not everyone achieves that type of relationship. For those that do, I am thrilled and happy for them. For those that haven't yet or have decided that they are content in the moment in time that they find themselves in. Perhaps over time things will change.
