The thing is, many companies have different rules when it comes to the PC. My company only gives 30 min daily PC. I might can see if a driver is a few minutes down the road or something, and they use PC. Then you could notate that you were forced to move or something like that. To use PC and drive 100 miles home though.....if DOT stops you, I don't know how you explain that one because that's going to be a surefire ticket I believe. 1099 companies play by their own rules and they regularly will try to coerce drivers into using PC even to advance a load. I think that's what draws certain drivers to them. They can break laws and the company will over it up or look the other way. If OP tries that with any reputable company, I guarantee that safety would call so fast. I once got empty in Fort Smtih, AR and I couldn't get reloaded that day. They couldn't find anything. They told me to deadhead home to Memphis. Roughly 300 miles, which they paid me for by the way. Now that would be 5 hours of PC. That don't even make any sense. I couldn't even explain that one.

More companies have disallowed PC because its just abused (wildly) on both ends. And its just safer legally to no longer allow it.

Hmmm... Driving for Chicago companies is dumb? I made $109,000 last year.must not be too dumb. My problem with them is communication and they treat their drivers like slaves. You make good money but you going to work for it
-
And they WILL steal your last paycheck along with their so-called "escrow" every time. So that $109k? its traded off by losing 15.3% to self-employment taxes ($16,677), the loss of $1500 in "escrow" (I dare you to look up the definition of an actual escrow account and figure out how it legally fits that definition), and your last 2 weeks of pay (at $109k, that's $4192.31), so in the end, you are making the equivalent of $88,130.69, and still aren't getting any benefits or workman's comp if injured on the job (that would cost you another $13,000, bringing you to the equivalent of $75k on W2 with zero benefits). You would do better by only driving 120,000 miles at 60 cpm W2, not be treated like a slave, not have to worry about your money being stolen, and having decent home time with paid vacation accrual and medical coverage.
So, no. You don't make good money, you only appear to make good money. -
And... you forgot my example was for someone driving M-F, spending time with a work-life balance and not being a SLAVE to an OWNER under an illegal classification to avoid paying taxes. It also included dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) (usually with company matching funds), and you are still ignoring the paid vacation days properly classified employees get every year.
W9 can only write off business expenses, too, so don't get caught writing off the food in your fridge if you are claiming per diem... -
Where do i sing up? i only grossed $126,000 delivering hamburgers and fries last year and i slept in my bed every night.bryan21384, Dennixx and JoeyJunk Thank this.

Indeed.
Some of my associates out of a certain terminal (cough, cough,Tampa, cough, cough, cough ) had their PC REVOKED because they abused it. Remember that these companies are audited by DOT/FMCSA and if they see HOS that doesn’t jive the company can get in trouble! -
That's really hard to believe that who do you work for?
-
Sounds like In N Out to me.
EDIT: A quick search uncovered that he works in food service for Martin Brower.bryan21384, Lonesome and JoeyJunk Thank this.
