W990 Speed Limiter FIASCO

Yes, I idle a lot and will never get an apu.

My 2021 389 would shut down after 5 minutes but was simple to override. Just turn the cruise on and bump it up a little. I actually got used to it and liked it that way because I don’t like letting it idle at low rpm’s.

Now the 2023 is completely different. Took months to finally figure it out. It is set too shut down at certain temperatures.. If it’s over 40 or under 80 degrees outside it’ll shut down after 2 hours.
This is going to be disabled because it drives me insane.. Lots and lots of bs changes between the 21 and 23 and I can honestly say that I have bought my last Paccar product..

 

For a couple of years it's been known that if the truck is ordered with CA spec and/or delivered in CA that a lot of programing was set and couldn't be changed.
You have the option to go up to that, but not down.

 

I got the cali sticker of shame.
Had the dealer change speed to 98 and turn off idle thing. No biggie. No wait time. Maybe use a different dealer?

 

But you listened to a salesperson and not a tech and had it switched. I'm sure it can be switched back but is going to take time and effort.
Same thing for anything ordered with crash avoidance, dealer can't remove.

 

22 and not digital dash- don’t know if that matters?!?

 

Were you trying to get it done on a dealer in any let’s say “restrictive” states like CA or NY? If you did I’d try another dealer in maybe Texas.
