I’ll be tuned in to your journeys for sure, our plan is to still move to MO if this dang house will ever sell, so you’ll be a good judge of the type of running they have in to and out of MO. I’m sure I’ll be back up around AL next week, we go to Huron valley a lot in anniston, if you ever get that way let me know, or if you have any questions about the BFE quarries in and around Birmingham I can probably help out with that too. Yep I’ll definitely keep you updated. There’s more to report on here when running the road vs. being local. No one wants to read “Ran rock to the concrete plant” all the time. I think I’m unloading at National Cement in Ragland and reloading at ABC Coke in B’ham. Ever been to either of those?

 

Nah, never been to either of those. We always reload rock coming back, so I can help you out with quarry locations up there if need be. Been on some boring work myself lately, but I figure when the works boring, at least take cool pics. Down in the lime rock hole early this AM.

 

I've loaded at ABC Coke before. Twas a long time ago. Loaded that stuff fresh out of the furnace. They ran water through it while loading. Then had to run back an forth under a water arch to make sure it all got cooled down enough not to damage the trailer. Then weigh to see if ya could get more on or not. By the time ya get to delivery you are lighter tho cuz a being minus the water weight. Plus ya gotta get up and move stuff around to make sure the material won't hit your tarp cuz it'll cut holes in it.

 

An it was stoker coke I hauled out of there. Took it to a kind've scrap yard in Gary In. Odd scrap yard, it was all junk rock an scrap melt. It all just looked like burnt rock of sorts.

 

I’d say that description applies to most of Gary, In. The armpit of the Midwest!

Yea apparently we very very seldomly get the hot stuff but I was told just like you said, they’ll have you water it down real good, which I’m sure is great if you’re comin back up north and the temps are freezing! I unloaded my wet feed to a real nice farmer in Fredonia, KS, loaded rock about 1/2 hour up the road goin to Hutchinson KS and loaded salt in Hutchinson KS for KCMO tomorrow. So far so good, and everything is upright!

 

Well as hot as that stuff is i don't think ya gotta worry about the water when ya get back up north cuz it will have dried. What i would wonder about is with it being so hot what would ya be able to put down to keep it from sticking or freezing in the box when ya got back north. An who knows with it being so hot an drying up like that maybe ya wouldn't have any trouble with it freezing.

 

Yea I wonder too that’s a good point. I know guys at work were saying rv antifreeze sprayed in the bed suits cold Coke well. I guess I’ll hafta just kinda see what happens.

 

Let me know how it turns out. I would think that stuff would absorb an dry up most liquid stuff.
