idk about home weekly, but FFE has a yard near Orlando; kllm can also park at their yards. Between the 2 sister companies there’s linehaul, otr, dedicated, regional, and local; so if a closer to home position opens up you should be able to switch. 2 to 3 weeks out is 4-6 days of hometime with trk.
edit: kllm’s got a dedicated acct with a minimum guarantee that could have you home for breaks 1-2 nights a week, while still accruing normal hometime. The description sounds like pickup in Atlanta or IL, and either go to a dc or run between their hubs; probably no backhauls, just dhs to the nearest hub.
My acct is mostly cross-country, but I live near one of the shorter rts corridors and if given it, I’ve detoured and stopped at my house if there’s time. I also parked a car at my nearest customers yard (2hrs), so if I layover there, I can just go home; it’s never affected my guarantee…
but ymmv; read a few reports of people not getting them… the dedicated’s usually say “must be available 6-7 days” for it; whereas regionals say “must be available for 14hrs, 6-7days.” Could also depend on your dispatcher, I’ve gotten it when I felt I didn’t deserve it and didn’t get it once when I thought I did (I modified my behavior to avoid the latter scenario again).Last edited: Jan 8, 2023

Welcome to the industry driver. Listen, when you're starting out, you gotta take whatever you can get. You've got umpteen companies suggested to you to choose from. If Swift offered you a position, you at least have them in your back pocket. If all the other ones tell you no or drag their feet, sign on with Swift for a year and be done with it. I think company research is slightly overrated. Start getting your experience asap and whatever your desires are will eventually take care of itself.
LilRedRidingHood and Bil4Real Thank this. -
Cypress is a good place to start, home weekly, with flatbed training available to new graduates, and they also have home daily or every other day type positions given your location. They tarp a lot, but they’re a good option IMO for Florida based drivers.
