First time I was there I waited to get in, got sent somewhere else by someone on their first day on the job, got sent back to where I started before unloading. The pickup after that was really nice, about 2 miles away and with overnight parking at that time. Second time I made that pickup I didn't need to park and it looked like they didn't allow that anymore

Made it to parking last night with 8 mins on clock. Started day out at first service area in Ohio on 80/90 eastbound. Got to Cleveland where the lake effect snow started and it followed me all the way to Avon, NY. Left Avon picked up load in Niagara Falls and then made it to Truck World in Conneaut, Oh. Just been awhile since I had a day like that.

Yeah I had days like that pretty regularly with Millis. I kind of miss running like that sometimes but I'm glad I don't have to now. I had a similar day (minus the snow) last week when I started the day at that little TS in Mercer, OH at the intersection of 33 and 127, drove to Marietta, OH to load, and then made it to the Hebron, IN Flying J with something like 10 minutes left on my clock.

Are they keeping you guys moving? I see a lot of complains in the Gearjammers group about Millis folks sitting. But I also remember them complaining about not getting miles while I was getting 3000+ miles so I don't know what their problem is sometimes.

I used to love catching that truck stop as the place I called it a day. It wasn't often but it happened a few times. I always enjoyed those type of places over the big chains.

I'm guessing those complainers were the same ones that always seemed to be at every terminal I passed through sitting in the lounge complaining. I never had 95% of the problems some drivers seemed to regularly have.

Pretty sure it’s hit and miss right now. Location is of course everything. Do not want to be anywhere near a terminal during the weekend.

just pulled into Rfield. Kwik Trip has about 8 millis trucks parked and rfield is packed.

I never stayed there but figured it was nice. I stayed at the rest stop on 33 east of there a few times and had the place to myself for a while. It was nice and quiet too

I stayed clear of the lounges too, it seemed like there was a lot of complaints about everything there and I didn't want to waste time listening to it. I usually wasn't around that long either, I thought I was lucky if I had enough time to do laundry and take a shower before leaving.

It's a pretty nice stop and there's always plenty of parking there. I kinda liked it better before they tore the old building down and rebuilt it because I liked the old school vibe, but the new store is bigger and better stocked.

The restaurant has rabbit on the menu, which I have never seen on a restaurant menu before. I haven't tried it yet.

Another little Indy truck stop along that lane (at least for me) is that little stop just west of Ft. Wayne on 30 in Columbia City. That one also usually doesn't fill up until late and I really like the Mexican restaurant next to it.

I was never there with the new building. I've stopped at that other place on 30 you mentioned too. Actually delivered to a place off 30 near there once. Other than that stretch of towns every few miles in Indiana 30 wasn't a bad drive. The Ohio portion is basically like an interstate.

30 in Indiana west of Gary is kind of interesting. You won't make great time, but there are some old school truck stops out there in addition to a few of the chains

And you can thank me for the warmer weather out here in the midwest, I bought a new winter coat after having had enough of the cold and it's been warm here ever since

Don’t have a trainee right now but here is something that has irked me pretty much with all my trainees. Following distance. We will be going down the highway I need to keep reminding them a minimum of 4 seconds. Get on a side street where speed limit is 25 mph and they increase their following distance to 30 seconds. I don’t get why they all have huge following distance at the slower speeds.
