Hedon and Lavender - I love you girls... Amazing comments, dead on. But again it will never be understood by others because they have never experienced those moments. My partner and I are still reviewing the posts and looking at companies.
We are looking seriously at one of us starting first and considering the option of simply paying our way.
I must wonder though... I always hear that it's the most basic rule of the industry that anything is too much to pay for trucking school... What is your take on that?LavenderTrucker Thanks this. -
Okay. Lavender......I now have this urge to hold hands and skip through a parking lot. Well.......after my knee gets better.........but then I'm hunting you down and we're skipping.
Hedon: ummm when I was 16 I actually DID fake a seizure and drool when on a blind date. He looked like Dudley Doo-Right with a wart.
Please don't be a seizure faker hater.JRYCSD, LavenderTrucker and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
Well, thanks... and you're right they are never going to understand.
That's how Stace and I did it -- I started and drove solo for two years then she went to school and I trained her. Then we started driving team. Been teaming for six years.
Well we both payed for our own schooling. We went to two different community colleges which offered excellent programs. I didn't want to be trapped by a company that would charge me three times what their schooling was worth if I wanted to leave them before a year was up. I'm not real impressed with the whole indentured servitude approach to my career. -
Ok... That right there is why I love you... in a purely innocent non-shameful manner, of course.Last edited: Feb 19, 2010

I'll be in the middle and y'all can just tote me. I'm sneaky like that.LavenderTrucker Thanks this. -
Ok, my 2 cents here, i am sick and tired of hollywood always shoving this gay thing down everyones throat on tv and in the movies, its sick and disgusting and now we have it here in the forum, cant people just leave the sexual preference at home behind closed doors? the military should keep the dont ask dont tell, i sure as hell dont care who is or who isnt gay and i dont want to know, Please keep this gay sexual preference to yourselves.

I dont necessarily agree. I think that your better off paying for your own school..........but I dont think the school should Cost $10,000 for a 160hr course. JMO
American TruckerHedon, LavenderTrucker and JRYCSD Thank this. -
That might solve the whole situation -- then we can talk about something that is one aspect of many in our lives and you won't have to be all sick and disgusted.
Don't want to know?... don't click the thread... there... wasn't that easy?Dogandponyshow, Gearjammin' Penguin, Working Class Patriot and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well, we went to Swift's school. My husband signed a contract so they deduct a payment each week. Then each week they repay us half of that payment. After 13 months they'll not deduct from him any more but will continue to repay the payment. This means at the end of 26 months.....they'll have paid for the school not him.
Because we're legally married.....I didn't have to pay anything. Actually I like to think it's just that I'm so freaking cute but they insist it's the marriage thing.
I don't know if they have some type of arrangement for gay partners, I do know that non married straights have to pay.
I don't know if you'd consider Swift gay friendly or not......I know I have several friends who work at Swift and they happen to be gay. I'll be honest most are female but I have two gay couples who are friends. I phoned one of the couples and asked if they'd had any problems with discrimination. After they stopped laughing at me because I'll ask them anything they said a few things to tell you:
1. They've had no problems at Swift. Swift treated them the same as any couple.
2. They know a number of gays at Swift and don't know of any of them having problems
3. The only problems they've had at all was a couple of students gave one of them a hassled during school but Nana took care of the bully for them. *winks*
4. They just act normal on the road and don't worry about what other people think. However they're not normally physically affectionate in public but that's their personalities.
5. They didn't know about the non payment for spouses or they'd have asked for it. They're going to try and see if they can get it and get a refund LOL
I hope that helps a little bit.LavenderTrucker, Hedon, JRYCSD and 1 other person Thank this.
