I’m looking at my brothers 05’ classic with 435hp C15 Acert. He ran it in the oilfield 7 days a week for 4 years and the truck was super reliable.I have noticed that the doors seem flimsy and not sturdy like the one on my 9900 and also flimsy interior plastic like others have mentioned.Wanting it for a spare for the times that mine will be down.
D.Tibbitt and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
A few years ago I drove my uncle's classic for the summer. 02 500 Detroit and 84in sleeper. Wb was either 280 or 285 I can't remember. With 1.5m miles it was solid. Close to 2m now with a rebuild at 1.2m
Took some getting used to coming from a set back axle under 220wb but I liked it. The only 2 trucks he's owned was a FLC and the 02 classic
A little noisy compared to both of the Mack'sLast edited: Jan 12, 2023

Condo XL with a 13 speed 3:55 and 12.7 or 14L pulling dry van/flat around TX, Midwest, Northeast, how realistic would it be to average high 6's low 7's at 61-65 mph average?
I can see taking a hit on mpg with the hood and breathers but can see the advantage to having so much space to work with when it comes time to factor in labor fees. Plus the advantage of no DEF maintenance or repairs means you can save that money and re-invest it in modifications such as low RR tires, high flow exhaust, etc.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Find one with the 82" bunk. Has a bed & breakfast table/Murphy bed setup I'd love to have in the Studio. You can spot them by the extra swoosh line on the top of the sleeper.
Rideandrepair, ducnut and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Funny you mention this. I never knew they existed until tonight. Found one on marketplace.Siinman, Rideandrepair, RubyEagle and 1 other person Thank this.

I'm on my 6th truck, and if I had it all to do again, I'd still be in my first.
Mine wasnt an XL but I loved it. If I wasnt so close to checking out I'd get another, insulate it, custom cabinets, carpet, off you go.
Doors can get flimsy with age, door seals and latches need regular maintenance to avoid that. With a 60 series 6.5 to 7mpg is reasonable.
Wish I'd kept mine.JoeyJunk, Siinman, Rideandrepair and 5 others Thank this. -
If turning radius is a concern look for a 05-07 model. They switched to the coronado front axle for those years.

Same mpg numbers as my uncle's. Lo pro 24.5 and 3.42 13sp. Local out and back the same day. Come home empty 90% of the time. The 84 in bunk makes my 60in feel tiny. Like a studio apartment Lol. Few times I broke into the low 7sSiinman and Rideandrepair Thank this.
