I've had my CDL for a few years now, but was just wondering since my regular license is coming up for expiration soon. Do we need to renew that for personal vehicles or does the CDL exceed it? Just don't wanna let it expire and get popped later on personal time.
Dumb question but.

Your regular license should’ve been surrendered, when you received your CDL. Your DL numbers should match on both.

Thanks, that's what I thought but was just sitting one day and couldn't remember from CDL school. Didn't wanna get pulled over one day and be screwed cause j thought wrong.austinmike and ducnut Thank this.

ummm. Take your license out of your wallet. Make sure it has the class A (or B - whichever you have) on there. Then look at the expiration date. Should only be one on there. IF it does not say Class A-or B on there. You need to go find the one that does or get a duplicate then get rid of the one that does not.Bean Jr. and CrappieJunkie Thank this.

I don't recall having both a CDL and a regular, and the CDL was all I had. When I moved to Colorado,it cost $8 bucks to renew the CDL, of which I declined. A more important dilemma is, does you current license have a star on it? If not, be ready for the rigmarole of your life,,,
ducnut Thanks this. -

here is yet another deadline to get it done.
Can I fly in the US without a REAL ID in 2022?
The new deadline for REAL ID enforcement is May 7, 2025. Read the announcement. Beginning May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, state-issued enhanced driver's license, or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States.

When I moved to Colorado from Wisconsin in 2018, Wis. had not yet begun the program. I couldn't satisfy the Colorado DMV. BC, parents BC AND death certificates, I had to register to vote, HS diploma, nothing worked. If I had a passport, it would have been easier, but finally, I forget what did it, but it went through.austinmike and buddyd157 Thank this.

yeah, it's sickening that all these years, we had no worries about the solid fact that WE ARE AMERICANS, and have to go thru this insipid BS to PROVE THAT, and the terrorists can just walk on in and do thier destruction, and get out.

You think that’s bad? When we moved from Wis., to Texas in 2013, my wife had to prove to the DPS, the reason she changed her last name was SHE GOT MARRIED!! Had to dig back and find our marriage license. We had been married 28 years at that time.
