The “peak surge” is for accessories that create a spike in draw, when they start. Don’t load it to that level.

 

You’re plugging it into your inverter, which has its own safeguards. It’ll shut down, before you get to the point of damage. Just make sure the inverter is installed using more-than-adequate gauge wiring and there are no rubbing/abrasion opportunities along the wiring’s pathway.

Batteries are direct current(DC), so your power/draw is flowing one direction, away from the battery bank, toward your inverter or fuse panel, whichever side of the battery bank you’re on. The inverter and fuse panel are each on their own circuits. You’re not crossing over, back and forth, or through the battery bank, if that makes sense.

 

Glad I get paid enough to be able to eat without having to cook in my truck.

Personally, I have a Cobra Pro 2500W. It’s WAY more than I need. However, the local KW dealer stock only that model and I wanted an avenue for return/exchange, if I should have any issues. They know the ownership and techs at my employer and know my local tech (I work at a satellite location) who installed it. Also, I pay my employer’s pricing, for everything I get from this dealer.

I’d probably recommend a similar model. This way you have plenty of headroom for even more future accessory items. Also, it allows the inverter to have additional headroom, so it’s not being run at max capacity.

Do you have a local dealership you or your company work with? If so, I’d check and see what they have available.

 

I will remind myself of that in the morning while I’m enjoying my breakfast of top sirloin, three eggs over easy, potatoes n onions, Texas toast with blueberry preserves and orange juice and bottomless coffee. And a big fat cinnamon roll to go!
