2 new inexperienced drivers from a low-hour CDL school are less likely to be able to run teams with each other until both of you have some experience driving. Stay away from CR England. They may be the worst company in the industry and they treat drivers like paper napkins. Over half of their current drivers have only 90 days experience in trucking and seldom last more than another 180 days before leaving the industry.

Trans Am will push you hard to lease a truck from them. You won't get enough miles to pay all the expenses and you will go broke and owe money when you leave. If you decline to lease the truck and be a company driver, you won't get freight and will sit until going broke as a lease driver seems like a "real opportunity."

Having been watching the industry since 2009, I would say that CFI is a very good reputable company to start out with. Based upon my conversations with a recruiter, who was completely honest, nicer than Trans Am recruiter. They have one of the reputable schools and their reputation is better than Trans Am.

Congratulations. That seems like a good choice. Remember, whoever you worked for there will be days you think you can't/shouldn't have to "work work like this" or "put up with that". Complete your year, hit nothing, get no tickets, never cross a weigh station with anything wrong with the truck, and you will have so many options you won't know how to pick one.

Some newbies just assume they are going to hit things, get tickets, etc like it's just normal for trucking. It's NOT normal. CFI doesn't want you to do those things and each of those things that happens will severely limit who you can work for later. It's not your job to do what everybody else is doing. It's your job to be safe, even if you are the only one. Driving a truck means you ARE going to be slower than cars and other traffic and they will just have to get over it. Don't throw your ability to work away trying not to make some idiot in a 4-wheeler 5 seconds late, while he texts and posts videos on TikTok. And don't ever park at the fuel pumps except to get fuel and then pull forward. No exceptions.

CR England and Covenant will train you and your wife at the same time in the same truck. Those trucks are set up for that, a trainer and two trainees. Once the training in complete, you and your wife will be assigned your own truck so you can hit the road as a team.
