I understand the cold weather. That's why I moved from Tennessee to Las Vegas area.

Georgia is about as far South, that I can think of, to get training. Millis Transfer trains in Georgia. Tell the recruiter you won't sign up unless you can attend school in Georgia.

Maybe try KLLM and ask for training in Mississippi.

Neither of these fit your desire to be somewhere warmer (sorry!), but I know Halvor and DOT Foods also do not team drive for their OTR training. DOT Foods in based out of Mt. Sterling, IL and Halvor is in Superior, WI.

Schneider also trains in Phoenix, Arizona. Probably much warmer than Ohio. Right now it's 56 degrees in Phoenix.
Might have to pay your own way to get there though, since there are schools closer. Probably worth the drive or flight to train in a warm climate.
    Ask a recruiter about that.

Are you okay with LTL? Yellow's Driving Academy doesn't do any team training either (they can't: they run day cabs). And it's offered in a variety of places; they have hubs in a lot of major cities. This website advertises the academy in Albuquerque, Forth Worth, Nashville, and Charlotte, among other places: Yellow | Paid CDL Truck Driver Training

You can probably get a cheap one-way flight ticket to Phoenix and attend cdl school there with Schneider.
If I were you, I'd tell the recruiter you're willing to do that. I'd do it if in your situation. In the big picture, it's a good deal.
By the time you get there, the weather will be real nice and warm.

The slip seat thing, guessing Yellow does it like Estes, is a major thing I'm trying to get away from. I deliver new trucks and it's always something different. Which in nice dry weather isn't a big deal. It's when it's not you really wish you drove the same truck for more than a day.

That is most likely what I will do if they don't have something in the South I can drive to. Could drive to Phoenix of course but probably cheaper to fly vs drive out and back. That or just wait till spring. Unlike most I'm not in a rush. Rather take my time and find a company that hopefully works for me vs jumping in and finding out a week in the company isn't for me. Although Schneider with it's dedicated accounts and short hand holding time so far is in the lead.

Just read where Schneider still wants paid even if they decide to fire you, even during training. If I quit sure no problem. They cancel the contract aka fire me they can kick rocks. Not worth the risk of dinging my credit. I'm guessing if Schneider does that then most if not all others do the same.

So I guess I'll start looking into just paying for school. So far I've not been able to find many schools that offer a B to A upgrade class and those that do what full schooling kinda money. Which is what sent me down the paid schooling path. If it wasn't for the fact most companies want a school cert I would just do the edlt online and go rent a truck/trailer. But no big surprise corporations think a degree or cert means you know something. When most of us know better.

I do appreciate all the suggestions though. Without this forum I may of made a very costly mistake.

All trucking companies say that. If you quit or get fired, you still owe us.
Most drivers ignore that and move on with their lives.

Don't overthink this. If you do, you may never get started.

Not saying it's the preferred way to do things, but I know a lot of people just don't pay it. It's a third party that tries to collect it and apparently for Schneider you can make three separate payments, but what are they going to do if you don't pay? Worst thing is maybe ding your credit, but not much else. In the end you have your CDL either way.
