Look at your lease agreement on the pickup. Does it say you cannot use it for hauling freight, or not, as long as you control it, you should be OK. I would keep the lease paperwork in your permit book so when they look at the actual owner, you can prove it.

I would look at your lease as @Mnmover99 advised. There was a guy on YouTube named TowPiglet . He based his business on leasing a truck for 60,000 miles then traded on another truck for 60,000 miles. Kinda interesting guy. He basically grew to fast in a short amount of time and was forced out of business when the fuel exploded.

I watched TowPiglet's channel for a little while. Until he had a video talking about expanding his business and stated, "I don't need a business plan..." I think he was treading water long before fuel went up. Couldn't take anything he said seriously after that.

He had other issues no doubt. He was leasing his trucks, I also believe the wrong way to go about it. He was leasing on guys with little to no experience driving and his insurance cost were very high. It was during mid summer when he threw in the towel.

OP has a personally financed pickup; not leased. He’s asking if he needs to fully own it (no bank note) to lease on somewhere and run under their authority.

Yeah I think everybody misunderstood his question. Yes you can lease onto somebody with a financed truck. The nice thing about starting off with a 1-ton pickup is you don't need a commercial equipment loan to finance one or a commercial insurance policy to drive off in it. Leasing onto somebody would be a much wiser idea if you have no experience.
