I worked for TMC trans for a short time in 2008, then came home for a minor surgical procedure and was off for about a month. While I was at home recouping I found a job at a local carrier that got me home way more. Though I enjoyed workin for TMC besides the fact they are so far up your ### in regards to compliance the local job paid as good, if not better.
Yesterday morning I got a voicemail from a TMC recruiter to see if I was interested in returning to TMC. They are looking to get some of their former drivers back, hopefully for me only the good ones. Had heard that they had file bankruptcy has year and they didn't have very much good payin freight. Heck even my trainer got done for them and he was hardcore "Black'n'Chrome".
Was curious if anybody on the "inside" so to speak has any info as to what the state of affairs is in Des Moines. Has the freight situation improved any? The turnover in drivers as bad as last new year?
Would appreciate any feedback, as I said I was proud to be a TMC driver but It just wasn't paying the bills when I was there. Thanks
TMC called me

Piece of advice? tell them not to call back back... I've seen this pattern before... with other companies and been bit in the butt by it.
-
I guess I don't understand that advice of telling them not to call back, if you need a job and someone offers you a job, you consider how the job fits you wants or needs. Sounds like TMC has some decent jobs available right now on some of their Dedicated Accounts - the good thing about Dedicated sometimes is even if the Company changes, the drivers stay with the account - especially good drivers. Seen it many times. I think I am going to go for the Boats, will see

The way I read it, he is working for a local company now.. he has a job.
He also said it wasn't paying the bills.... if it didn't then, why would it now? -
Gotcha, makes more sense if you advice is to the specific poster and the circumstances he relates, I got the impression you were making more of a statement to stay away from TMC which is not hard to get that impression if you read too many threads around here. Thanks for clarifying
GuysLady Thanks this. -
No problem. Sometimes I don't always come actoss quite clearly. I'm used to these dingbats who know me so well they can almost read my mind! LOL!

Put a little Italian inflection in it as you read it...helps the connotation!GuysLady Thanks this. -
I've still got my current job, TMC called me out of the blue. Current job pays ok, TMC seemed to be going thru some stuff when I was there. Current job is ok but not sure of its long term future. They don't seem too concerned with compliance, which may bite me in the ### with CSA 2010. Was curious to get a current TMC drivers take on things before I call them back. Also curious of how much work they have going into the northeast, I'm in upstate VT, way upstate. Had a lot of out of route to get home with TMC before.

Wyldhogg, just curious, how will CSA 2010 bite you? At some point, all companies will end up as compliant, since 2010 issues points to companies as well as drivers. Your local co. may not be too compliant at 1st, but will most likely get there in the foreseeable future.

Current company will be dragged into compliance kickin and screamin in the name of money. Boss thinks everyone is stealing from him when its him wasting money on his own crap.
