I have to agree with you Rollover, to clean and wipe that truck, from what has been shown to us is every bit of a 8-10 hour job, to do it right.

Does it run? Are they actually gonna fix that POS? If the answer to both is "yes", there are numerous routes between IN and OH where you stand a very good chance of slipping through without seeing the DOT man. However, once in the company yard, I wouldn't even THINK of driving that rolling junkpile one more yard without repairs. And I like Internationals.

Almost looks like they pulled that truck right out of the junk yard, man someone treated that truck pretty rough, and was a pig to boot, there is no way i would accept truck in that condition.

I agree this is tough - but eight hours to clean up the truck?
You can vacuum all the s--t out, throw away what you can't get with the vacuum, empty out the glovebox and all of the storage compartments, dump out and wash out the ashtrays, clean everything you might ever touch, clean windows inside and out, wipe off seat belt/shoulder strap with 409, let it dry, hose off the floor, let it dry, wipe interior sides and overhead, get your cover over the mattress to keep out most of the cooties, throw away (or burn) your work gloves, and wash/detox your hands in no more than two hours . . .
It is almost fun as you envision just who left the truck in that condition.

But the tires and safety issues? A different story . . .:biggrin_25511:

It's your decision, because you will be the driver of the cmv which makes YOU and ONLY YOU responsible for moving the vehicle if it's not compliant. Do you actually believe it's OK to be driven? Sure you might make it sneaking around a scale or two like some bandit but is it worth your license, or your life or an innocent victim's life; maybe you won't kill anyone, maybe you will just get lucky and only cut off their legs or arms. That wouldn't be near as bad would it? From what I can see in your pics there's chunks of tread missing besides less than 2/32's. And I don't seem to see any drive treads left at all; used steers? What's the mechanical look and sound like etc.? Like I said it's up to you. Why let someone say "I told you so"? Especially a LEO that notices your condition. Think ..........good luck.:biggrin_25521::biggrin_2557: :biggrin_25513::biggrin_25510: :biggrin_25520::biggrin_25510:

I would not drive that pos anyplace. Have them tow that truck back home. Why would a company have a driver drive such a truck ? They had to know that truck was this bad. I am a rebal driver or was anyways and I would not even bother with it.

Personally I wouldn't even bother to clean up that truck until you know what they want you to do with it. Hell I wouldn't even want to sit in that thing much less drive it.

No way would I pull that heap onto a road. The bodywork is in a dangerous condition and the first police patrol to see you will hammer you.

In the UK we have a points system and fines for offences (and points dont make prizes in this game). Each of those defective tyres would earn you 3 points at twelve points (thats just four of those tyres) would mean the loss of your licence. And thats not just your truck licence either you lose the right to drive your car too. I think its £60 per offence too and I have a feeling the body work will cost you dear as its an unroadworthy vehicle in my opinion.

As for the state of the interior. I'd rather sleep in the trailer or on the catwalk than inside that hole.

As a mechanic friend of mine used to say "Its nothing a can of petrol (gas to you ?) and a match couldn't put right" and by saying that Im joking. For christs sake dont torch it.

Imagine being invited round for a meal at the previous drivers house ?

I think we are looking at his "house"!

Tell your DM/fleet manager that the tires aren't legal, and to send road service to take care of the rubber. At the same time, try to get a definite answer if they are going to put you in a different rig...perhaps the decision will be easier with legal rubber.

This truck is a 2009 ? Looks to me like the previous driver sold the tires and swapped them for the tires on there . That truck would have been put OOS if driven very long with those tires .
