The only two things for me were :
1) You are no longer a professional truck driver. You are a professional truck washer. And you will be wet a lot.
2) You're at the mercy of dispatch ( for the most part ) to get OT.
We had a guy that was the most professional driver you could ever hope to encounter that had been there for 14 years longer than me.
You pick You're starting position by seniority. He picked 14, he could have been 4, I was 16.
I'm going what are you doing? He said he needed to outlast Ramone ( flaming dispatch) to get some OT, cause he always sent him home.
I thought BFS, guy like that has to play games, F this.

Off road work with a top heavy load takes some getting used to
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
And you never get wet, and don't believe other people get wet? Keep talking, this is interesting. I may drive a mixer again someday and staying dry would be a priority.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Pretty much. Like I said, people tend to love it or hate it. I did it one winter when a friend needed help and his regular crew was on layoff and not wanting to come back for a few short jobs.
I didn't hate it but I sure didn't love it either.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Not never, but certainly not always either,
PeteAnother Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I liked it…….. not sure I’d like a front loader tho.
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
It's construction.
In most areas, it's seasonal.
You'll work your booty off when it's go time, but when the rains start, you'll be wishing you saved some money from the good times.
I worked for construction when I first got my cdl...
October was good, November so so, December I didn't work more than 2 days a week.
The guys I talk with say the start time is all over the place... Sometimes 7am,sometimes 2am, some jobs run around the clock, like highway projects and similar.
If that's your game, go for it, and I wish you the best of luck in it.
With all that crap though, I'd be thinking it through real hard.
Many other opportunities out there that don't have nearly that much crap to deal with.Another Canadian driver, REO6205 and Cat sdp Thank this.
