I read that to mean he is new in the o-o business and this is his first truck.
Few dealership finance divisions will finance someone with little or no experience as an owner operator no matter how high the credit rating.
1. buying a truck is very different from buying a business i.e. someone's operating authority, and or goodwill.
2. Buying a tractor from a retiring driver has all of the pitfalls of any used truck purchase, dealer or private individual. -
Not sire if its a character flaw or feature but i tend to dig in and get pig headed when things get rough lol. And i tried several times but most people saw MX13 + 600-700K miles and noped right out.
That said i do have a kitty sitting in my barn ima try to rebuild and cram under the hood and i can get a rebuilt 18 using my 13 as a core for around 6k. Still waffleing on the new mack and its going to come down to if i have the capitial+how bad the market is when i go to buy. Im heavily leaning towards it but if my engine blows between now amd then....well ill do what i gotta do. -
Essentially he’s looking to be an owner op without having the finances nor credit to do so.Hoping to find a retiring owner op that will finance by owner and will take a shall down payment or none at all.Lots of people like this out there that want to run before they crawl.
I was in a similar situation financially in 2011.Was living in Miami at the time and jobs were scarce and paid very little.Found work in the North Dakota oilfield running a Hydrovac truck. It was hard work physically cleaning tanks, long hours, and negative temps.Did that for 3 years at 100 plus hours,7 day weeks for 3 years and only took two weeks off at the end of the year.Made good money and saved enough to start a hotshot business(should have bought a semi). What I’m trying to say is that you can’t just become an owner op without having your finances in check and a good amount of money saved up.Everything having to do with running a truck is expensive.Get out of your comfort zone and look for a job that actually pays good money.Look to the oil fields for a start and not one of the major players in the oilfield because they don’t pay enough and give you too much time off. -
And, move out of ATL. As a working class individual, you’ll never get ahead in a high cost area. It’s why I moved back to the midwest, from FL. I can can buy a house, here, for the cost of a down payment, down there. Way easier life, up here.
Opendeckin, Blu_Ogre and Dadetrucking305 Thank this. -
