Well I’m not sure how else to it do other than 8.75 hours a day a pice. If we are under a load 24/7 and have to run recaps, how do we work it out? We arrive drop off the load, check in and then bam, another load.

This is what we were doing. But the company wanted us to do recaps.

You have to look at each load individually, when it picks up, when it delivers, then plan accordingly. You can't always stick to the 8.75 hrs. Yall will handicap yourselves that way. That's ok if your a solo driver in many instances. I run that way oftentimes. The load tells you how it needs to be ran. It ain't a foregone conclusion that you can run 550 miles each time you do 8.75. If you're able to have 11 hrs drive time daily, that's all that matters. Y'all need to divide the miles between yourselves. For instance, if its 1100 miles, plan on running as close to 550 as possible. If the load has enough time on it in which 1 of you can run, and 1 of you can reset, go for it. If the give you 3 days to run 1200 miles like you alluded to earlier, I don't see why 1 of you can't get a reset.

    2 days off will help.

Sounds like the are matching each other and limiting to 17.5 hours out of 24.

I suppose that dates us, "alligators" were just an everyday part of trucking. This may shock and amaze you, but in all my years, I NEVER ONCE did a "recap"of any kind. I think my one and only OBR did it for me, but never on paper. Most of my jobs were regional, and wasn't too concerned about going over hours, but when I had my own truck, "compliance" was always on my axx about a recap, but my logs were such a mess anyway, and I never went over a scale, I never recall being asked for it, I think she just gave up. I realize, that's not an option today.
I THINK, someday, we're going to go back to outlaw days, certainly not like my shenanigans, but some sharp computer whiz will figure out how to jam their signals, and I say Hallelujah!!!

What this thread (and some others) show is how ELD’s have made the job more dangerous and difficult. Seems everyone is running against or with the computer instead of common sense.
When I started driving in the 70’s I was taught to know your limitations. And to understand that you are the one driving the truck and can see the road and know if I’m tired or not. Not the dispatcher. And certainly not the government!
And I think I have done a pretty good job at it with no accidents in the last 40+ years.
