When hiring on for a percentage pay job about the FIRST question out should be "Di I get the copy of the dispatch or contract sheets" and if the answer is no dial the next number on your list! If they are not willing to show you the ACTUAL pay on the load you are about to get bent over the tank! There are very few HONEST companies out there any more.

As an owner operator your right, but for company drivers, I don't think you can make the same case for disclosure.DEEMO Thanks this. -
Percentage pay? Ya freaking do have the same case for disclosure. That's what the 'contract" or he was told when hired, then he's entitled to the same rules as an O/O. Or you can come and work for me at $3.00 an hour and take what I pay you. That's the same thing they are doing to him. bait and switch! I'd walk!

ive seen companys that pay 25% of 85% instead of 100%

Well, they fired me today. I took a load from indianapolis up to romulus, mi. When i got my pay the next week, they paid me $15 for that run. I talked to the owners soon and he told me outbound loads i should get paid 30% of $1.89 a mile which is $.56 a mile. I have been looking at all my loads now to see how much they have been paying me. It varies from 10%-25%. Do any of you think i should contact an attorney and do you know any that work with this type of thing.

Well that bites. Why did they fire you?
I getpaid percentage, but it's specialized hauling and averages around $3 per mile and there ain't any "variable" about it. Indy to Romulus for $15?? I don't think so dude, my time's worth a hell of alot more than that. Sounds like an "Immigrant" outfit to me.
Lawyer's not gonna do you any good there I'm afraid. Looks like you're gonna have to chalk that up to experience like most of us have done at one point. The world's full of vultures and you just met one. -
They fired me because they said i don't trust them because i asked to see the load settlement papers. Well i guess i'll start looking for a better one.

Who knows how you went about asking them... but what I do is fax my confirmation sheet to the trucker if he wants it. I can either tell him what it pays and he can trust me or he can pay $2.00 to figure it out on the road. When they get back, if they want to see it, I show them, but that's rarely the case. I've been questioned about the rate (just a crappy rate) but never the honesty part... I kind of prefer faxing it. Much easier to dispatch.

A verbal contract is not a contract. If they told him when they hired him that they would show him the actual amount the load paid if he asked, and it's not in writing, then they never told him a darn thing. I wish it was the olden days when a man's word was his contract. -
Some of the finest cheating in the history of humanity has been done under the guise of honesty.
