I drove a 6-speed for a few years. It was ok for the type of work we were doing, pulling 45' and shorter reefers.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
As long as it's a non-synchronized transmission, it doesn't really matter how many gears it is. It's the learning to get the timing and the RPM match down that matters. Once you've mastered shifting, it's only a slight adjustment to change to a different transmission.Opendeckin, brian991219, rabbiporkchop and 7 others Thank this.

Probably beats the hell out of the old Mack five speed! I hated that thing! lol
rabbiporkchop, Oxbow and tscottme Thank this. -
And or the old CF Freightliners with the 7 speed.. that was really goofy
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Well, it's much better than teaching in an only automatic transmission.
rabbiporkchop, MACK E-6, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't think there should have been an option, but now that its an actual endorsement, I guess I'll have to be OK with it. I just makes more sense to learn it in a controlled setting before getting locked out of better jobs or finding a quick replacement job with more options
