They are much like any other large Trucking Company, you are just another driver. you are expendable. so I would say, put in your 2 years and find a small company who will treat you like you belong there.

90% of USX newbies don't last 6 months , never mind 2 years . In 2006 they were audited and cited for document falsification . What causes drivers to run illegally ? They are starving running legally and dispatch lets them sit a couple of days then throws them a job that can't be delivered on time without violating HOS . Then you have the L/O's running 90 hours a week trying to not be in the red on their next settlement .

In someones honest opinion, having a good work ethic, being honest and hard working, can a person drive and make a good living at U S Express? As a newbie?

No , those qualities mean nothing at USX . You'll be treated the same as lazy , dishonest steering wheel holders .

I started driving with USX years ago and do have something to warn you about. It seemed like once you hit about 6 months of experience with no accidents they start playing hard-ball with you. What I mean is suddenly you are being sent to facilities that have extremely hard docks to hit like the caves in Kansas City. Suddenly you are going into NYC every other week. Suddenly you are picking up at little facilities out in the boondocks at a guy's barn, etc.

I was told by an old boy that they just want you to get a minor accident on your record so that you will have trouble finding a good job once you have a year's experience. I don't know for sure if it's true, but I do know that once I hit a year's experience I never went to NYC or the caves again. I also know that I'm not the only person who noticed this happening to them.

Course I didn't stay at USX much after that so take it for what it's worth.

I hope you are, too. I worked for USX for a little over a year when I first started and about 2.5 years up until November. The difference is that the second time I was driving team. It's true that USX treats their teams better than they treat their solos, but they are still what they are if you know what I mean.

Best bet would probably be to get your one year's experience then try to find a better job. Do your best to keep your MVR clean though.

    Good luck.
