Scary as that is everytime I get fuel or go into a truck stop I see people that make me wonder which episode of Bonehead Truckers they were in. And not just because they were wearing flip flops

We've all heard (and made) excuses for dumb stuff, but last night I heard one that's going to be hard to top when I mentioned my latest WTF moment at the terminal: "the new guy did that, and he's got 2 bullets in his brain". Last one I can think of that came close was the woman who told me she forgot something due to brain cancer.

 

Lexington warehouse today. Would have been a good teaching moment for student. But they were eating a cheeseburger at the cafe as I did a perfect back into door 83. Feels like a fishing a story since no one was there to see me do it.

 

Why were you backing in while your student at???

 

Student was eating a cheeseburger when they texted door number I wasn’t going out to look for them so I went and backed in the door. That little cafe is now open till 5pm. That didn’t really piss me off as bad as when it came to rehook to trailer and they stayed in the truck.

 

I admire your patience.

 

Some of these trainees just don’t understand you will only get out of training what you are willing to put into it.

Some want to learn the job inside and out others just want to coast to their 15,000 miles. Others have no freaking idea why they are even here. Some just want to make as much money as possible during training not realizing that after training they are on their own.

I remember the day I got my own truck I was happy and terrified at the same time. I thought Millis was crazy handing me a set of keys patting me on the back and kicking me out the door saying get to it!
