I agree, what matters most is bottom line revenue. I’ve been focusing on the net after fuel, when comparing trips, since fuel went up. I prefer 2 day trips. I’ll take a 700-800 mile trip in one day sometimes. High per day net after fuel. It all depends. Just trying to run hard always hasn’t worked for me in the past. Can’t out run high fuel costs. Trying to can add up to a big waste of time. An example would be Chicago to Atlanta, 1 day trip, for $1600, vs. Chicago to Tampa, 2 day trip, for $3200. The Tampa trip is the Loser.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

I don't do much in Atlanta so not sure what I could get out that area. I can get 2 plus a mile out of Tampa most times. I have only delivered to Atlanta one time and that was my first month of getting my authority. Never found any loads that pay good enough to go I guess.JonJon78, Rideandrepair and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I actually loathe Popeyes above all the rest except In N Out. They are the gold medalist of rip off in The United States.

All I want is one of those little boxy 1000-1100 or so sq foot modulars I see all over the place in my usual travels, but even those are going for $300K plus anymore.
The kicker is that 20% down payment up front.JoeyJunk, Siinman, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes prices have sky rocketed the last few years. Been looking to get a home with 2-20 acres around my area and everything is through the roof.JoeyJunk, JonJon78, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this.

This year, I will have 15 years as a Truck Driver and I have a plan to put my 84' International 9670 on the road this year. So, I started looking into getting my own authority, and learned a lot regarding who to use and the time frame it takes to actually get ones authority. I am going to use NASTC for pretty much everything and DAT Load Board, for now, until I find some direct freight. Been looking at a couple load boards for over a month now and wow! Definitely not the time to get my own authority and spit into the wind! I have more work to do on my COE anyway so will focus on that, and continue watching the load boards and doing as much research as I can. I have another truck I am driving now, on a somewhat dedicated account but am tired of being leased on to a carrier, tired of the unexpected changes they make that effect my bottom line. I have ran as an Independent before, just didn't have my own authority at that time. From 2014 to 2016 I ran a step deck and did ok but as always, stuff happens. Lost the truck and here we are, going for round two, or is it three? Heck I don't know anymore. Anyway, just thought I would chime in.
