I like nice things, things cost money
In two days I will cut the last payments on two trucks,I will then own all 6 trucks free and clear.
My wife has 25+ years with AF/FedEx and has done well with her
investments, our future is financially secure because we worked for it.
We will both retire in 2 years, debt free and in reasonably good health

I can see the point of requiring trailers and tractors to be such an age. The company does not know how well you maintain your truck. I know with us (tankers) we go 10 years on the trailers and 5 years on the truck. Them we sell them for top dollar. After that time it just costs us too much to maintain the unit and we get more by selling it. I saw one of our trucks, a KW with a 5000 gallon tank on it go for $55,000. Of course it was special truck with a drop axle by still we got our money out of that one considering the trucks run 22 hours a day. So I would guess it's all because of breakdowns and insurance reasons.

Now that's comfort!
