I have a cobra 29ltd in my 96 ford explorer, I was thinking of putting some juice to it but dont really know what to look for in an amp. I dont want to be the loudest radio out there as I know how annoying it can be, but a little more power would be nice. I was hoping you guys would have some suggestions for me.
- I know they are illegal, but I still think I want one.

The KLV line from RM Italy get the job done at an attractive price, just keep your input watts low.Texas Star have a proven track record and have been around in one form or another for years. Then there a the custom built amps, Davemade,X-Force Fat Boy and who knows how many others are building them now (or trying). Most do what they should but there are some custom amplifiers I would avoid.

davemade or fatboys are the best.texas stars are descent but they draw more amps than most other boxes.

in such a vehicle,"ANY" 2 pill box made will work.
For low buck and decent performance any of the 2X1446 pill boxs will get you what your after(50-75 watt net bump)
Running a junk(firestick) antenna will defeat the purpose,get a good one. -
X FORCE,,,FATBOY,,,OR TNT,,,,,TNT IS MAKE BY X FORCE
-
Pretty much any 2 pil or 1x2 will accomplish your goal and get you up out of the mud. Just be sure to set your radio up to properly drive the amp. BTW Sparky's has a 2 pill Texas Star Skeleton on sale for $115 right now.

You definitely do NOT want one transistor driving two! Any two transistor unit can be driven to saturation by any radio out there without the help of a driver.

For my money X-Force, if I couldn't find an X, Davemade....
