Valuable advice!
How far do you think truck prices should fall? Just based on your experience, what is a fair price for trucks? I'm very new to this and my 4 years as a driver is nothing compared to most of the guys here.
Detroit or Cummins

That said most used old irons with sub 800k should be in the $30-50K range if not recently rebuilt the 50-70K with a sub 100k rebuild and the 100-120K range with a sub 100K full drive train rebuild 100-150K for full restoration. Depending on condition and setup.
500k emissions rigs should be in the 50-60K tops range. Less for beaters bit more if recently rebuilt and +/- 30K depending on setup. I.E chicago dry van special vs specialized equipment with wetkit.
New should be 150-200k with taxes. And 100-300K used should fall in the 80-100K range.
That is a VERY rough guesstimate though amd will depend on what happens leading upto the elections.Keepforgettingmypassword and kros Thank this. -

I wouldn't buy a truck from Ryder. Those trucks are abused and maintenance and specs are horrible. Also buy the truck you want don't settle
Far as engines are concerned I wouldn't buy a Detroit because of the one boxes. They seem to fail around 700k and they are back ordered and expensive.Keepforgettingmypassword, bzinger and kros Thank this. -
Working on percentage of the load as a company driver? Must be a 1099....

I will never buy a truck which requires me to get uner the engine when servicing again. My DD15 can be serviced whilst standing, with no spin on filters.
It's so much easierKeepforgettingmypassword, kros and Last Call Thank this. -
I look at truck paper to pass time. I am amazed at how many trucks with Cummins engines have had to be rebuilt at very low mileages. Trucks that are 5 years old or younger. Seems insane to me.
Long FLD, Keepforgettingmypassword, Phoenix Heavy Haul and 3 others Thank this. -
Sounds like a plan ..
But then again thats coming from somebody that thinks a 2:31 gear ratio is a good idea tooJoeyJunk, Keepforgettingmypassword, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -
