Hello fellow drivers, I live in south Florida (Venice) and run with my own authority, been hauling amazon freight when they paid good, had my dry van and ran regional off load board. Now Im having hard time finding any kind of work for power only out of Florida that pays enough to make a living. Dont want to drive OTR due to having a family, willing to stay out 2-3 days on the road. Does anyone know anything in Florida I can look for work. Any help greatly appreciated

Florida outbound is a disaster right now. I’m see flatbed must tarp being snapped up at $1.6 per mile in South Georgia. You’d be lucky to get fuel money coming out of Florida pulling flats.
Not wanting to be on the road is definitely going to hurt you. What about taking a load up North on Monday and finding something back by Wednesday and then looking for short stuff the rest of the week? That may be better than running instate competing with guys that are willing to go broke helping Fortune 500 companies keep their investors happy with the bottom line. -
Intermodal is usually power only, and most are regional runs. Chinatown will agree and may have more answers for you. I did intermodal out of Chicago many years ago, and I did okay. Home almost every day.

Go drive for us foods.....
You will make more than local in your own truck, short of having a contract. -
you may need to deadhead or bobtail out of Florida to a hot area. Work it for 3 to 4 days, then head home. Check out Schneider, USA truck for power only loads.

I lived in Cape Coral. There’s nothing worthwhile south of Lakeland, IMO.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere to those looking for driving jobs, you’re probably best to go up there and drive around the industrial complexes, looking for distribution centers with trucks/trailers sitting around them. Other than that, Walmart has a DC outside Punta Gorda (Hwy 17), Cheney Brothers has a DC next to the PG airport, you may look at the LTL terminals around there, Indian River and Oakley might have tank options, Heyl has a place in Zephyrhills. There’s a water hauler (fancy rigs) that runs I-75, between Naples and Fort Myers I’ve seen, but, don’t know who they are.
The Latinos, who don’t understand business, have run the rates for anything local into the ground, south of I-4. FL is a consumer; not a producer. There’s just nothing outbound.
I think you’re too far south to do yourself any good, with a truck. It’s why I left and moved back to the midwest. -
It’s crazy to think they willingly take these 1.30 per mile loads and not realize they’re working for free
Does anyone know how is dump truck industry in Florida? -
JB Hunt is always hounding me with power only loads out of Florida. No clue what kind of money..
If you’re not signed up with them it’s easy enough..another tool in your toolbox anyway.
Image is of one they sent today.. I’ve been getting a lot over the last couple weeks from them. Maybe can get decent money if they’re desperate? -
Worse. Look at the junk rolling up and down I-75. Like I said, the Latinos have beaten the rates of everything to death. When you have multiples of them living in the same property and the yard is full of dump trucks, they’re just happy to have enough money left for that day’s meal and beer. What they do doesn’t have to make business sense, it just needs to afford them to stay in the states.Chieftains, 201, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this.

I get these offers from jbhunt as well, they by far have the worst rates across the board. Here is a screenshot of todays dat loadboard.Attached Files:
