    Is that the one by the bar that’s extremely difficult to get into? The one where the receiver has to give hand signals as we jackknife in? If that’s the one, I’ve been there twice and hope to never see it again!

    The first time I delivered there I told the receiver “Sir, I’m sorry, but what you’re asking me to do will not work in a sleeper truck. You need to let me back inside from the street.”
    He smiled and told me to watch him, not my mirrors and that they do it every day. One of our drivers even refused to attempt it that night and called dispatch. He didn’t want to be responsible for crunching the truck or getting his rig hung up where he couldn’t get it out. Another guy ended up doing it for him in order to keep the line moving.

    That receiving clerk definitely knows what he’s doing and missed his calling in life as a truck driver or the guy at the airport who gives hand signals to the pilots. Hopefully he doesn’t ever quit or retire. Lol The engineers who designed the layout of that place in the 50’s or 60’s must have been hungover when they drew the blueprints.

    I agree been there twice the first time I was in disbelief and then I watched them pull the driver in front of me in. It’s definitely a sight to see wish the truck was a manual in those situations.

    On the Mcallen - Murfreesboro load do they let you go via I-10 to I-59 through Bham? Or do they make you go I-35, I-30, I-40?

    You can go your own route. That’s one of the nice things about IRT. They don’t micromanage things like that the way some companies do. With that said, if you abuse it and drive a ridiculous, out-of-route path, you’ll probably hear about it. I don’t know of anyone who does that, though. Being paid by the mile and wanting to get on to the next load assignment, a person would be shooting themselves in the foot. I’ve ran it both ways you mentioned. I prefer 35 to 30 to 40, but that’s just my preference. I’m not a fan of the Gulf Coast area on I-10. It’s too congested and harder to find parking after 5pm in my opinion.
