Skol Tavern kicks tail. Not only is the food awesome, they got something like 200 different kind of whiskeys back there in the bar..

Last year I was up there when a few of the bikers were passing through Sturgis bound. It was fun mixing it up in there..

 

Sturgis…my next stop from Albert Lea would be the Marlins in Mitchell SD. Marlin’s was the restaurant chain in the Sta Mart truck stops. Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck and Mitchell. And also in Grand Forks, there was the legendary Long Haul Saloon! Haven’t been to Grand Forks in nearly a decade, but back in the day that was the party spot.

 

This is in the Sta Mart truck stop in Bismarck. Sunday night.

 

I have no more info than this video. This is a unit I never heard of. Absolutely impressive. I was well aware of Mack Fire truck program. But not this monster!

I like the truck stops that serve food that’s to be eaten with a fork, and with an adult beverage. A cute barkeep is icing on the cake.

 

Middle of July I made my way into Long Haul Saloon! At the 141 get off, in the back of Simonson Travel Center..

Arrived so darn early the sun was still high, but couldn't hold off, had to go in & get started. Was ready to hit the rack before the crowd appeared. But there is still a few pool tables, games, & good sized wrap-around bar to belly up too..

The Napier deltic engine that powered the pumper is a bizarre example of British ingenuity. Their sound makes detroit 2 strokes sound lame. 3 banks, opposed piston, 3 blowers. I rode on a museum train powered by one when I was a teen in Britain.

Had to do a triple take on your photo. For a moment, I was confused. Why would a multimillionaire, 007 super spy sniper be holding hands with another dude?

The only multimillionaire that I’d ever met was back in the 90s when the Mailman Karl Malone was big rigging during the offseason.

 

Loaded today for WA. Gotta get to work after two weeks off, but not leaving till Saturday. Spring like here in Arkansas, bet I'll be back in winter back west.

Be good to get back after it, but definitely enjoyed the time off after a solid month of hard at it.

Takin the wife to dinner, then maybe the blind pig for a drink and a dance.
