It’s 13’9” but I called it 14. Here is my next load. I knew it was suspicious when I booked it for $5.25 a mile. Said 4 ft tarps. It’s an elevator. 8 little coils, 2 big ones, and a 18’ piece of metal. The tall box was 8’ 3”. So many sharp ends I do not have enough padding. RIP tarps. The wind blew one off and if it wasn’t for a little help of another flatbeder I don’t know where I’d be. My idea was to sand which the little coils and the elevator weights between crates as they were not well banded and felt loose. Next time I should have put them at the very end and it would have been much easier on my tarps. But each coil was very heavy and the 2 pallets with weights was over 3k each.

Wow what a crappy load to tarp! Why wouldn’t the shipper require a conestoga for that type of load? Do they just not care what happens to their stuff or what? Or is the one tall box too tall for a conestoga? (I don’t know anything LOL)

I’ve only tarped maybe 10 loads my whole life in 6 years so I really don’t know what I’m doing lol. The load said 4ft tarps and I’ll be ###### if I use my brand new 6ft on that crap. I only have 4 moving blankets. It’s from Houston to San Antonio and paid $1200.

I tried buying the felt padding from tri city canvas but they are always out of stock. I had more moving blankets from harbor freight but they were shredded in 1-2 loads. I’m tempted to just buy a 1 foot drop tarp and use that as tarp protector.

Anyways 200 miles later and I got 5 holes smaller than a quarter. I’m actually surprised since it’s ripstop lightweight tarp.

4ft tarp required, means the tall box doesn't get tarped. :) It doesn't fit the load order, unless they were willing to lay it on top of the other crate on it's side. But you loaded it. It's on you now. :)
I've used the HF moving blankets, so kind of surprized they shredded/ripped on you. What are you doing to them? Also, I guess I should ask, which one's did you buy? They have a cheap version of the more beefy one's they have that I wouldn't use as a table cloth.

I’d like to add one thing about my first oversize load. The fact anyone can just book these loads and do them is insane. You can buy the permit in 30 seconds for like $60 and then hit Houston traffic at 7:30am. I’m truly surprised how simple it is and also how there aren’t more oversize related accidents. Max respect for people who haul oversize regularly.
