But JB Hunt daycabs are already pulling them in Butler,IN. Do you think I could find a trailer and under cut them 400 bucks?
Feedman, cke, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
Isn't it like 160K in Michigan with the 42 wheel Covered Wagons?
Also helps explain (not counting weather) why a lotta highways are bowed slabs.cke, Mattflat362 and jamespmack Thank this. -
Without really knowing someone....like really well....I would never even consider owning such a specialized trailer.
You LITERALLY better be in the shippers family.
Man, IMO, flatbedding would absolutely suck if all I could move were coils. And it would also suck, IMO, if I had to drive a bunch of miles to go and swap a trailer for a coil trailer only to go sit at coil places that run on "coil place time". LOL -
I agree on the IF...but up at 4am...to be at shipper by 6am.....and then hope they get you in and out quickly (not going to happen) so that you can get under something else (might not happen). Meanwhile the clock is ticking on my logbook.
Nope.CAXPT, jamespmack and bryan21384 Thank this. -
That's what I LIKED about PAPER LOG BOOKS as well Single Page and DEDICATED tours. I DID "Legally" Go OFF DUTY anytime, anywhere.jamespmack, mtoo and CAXPT Thank this.

If you were my best freind since 4th grade and you were a broker and you were about to lose your house and I was directly across the street from this shipper....
I still wouldn't touch it LOLOL.
Sorry man it just makes zero sense to me no matter any circumstances whatsoever ever.jamespmack Thanks this. -
Band it to a pallet. Define "pallet".
No other Securement??
throw it in a dry van or reefer and roll.....OVER, copy? -
I used to haul those coils in a frame less end dump.at night with a 380 inch wheelbase R model. I could add a load of lime or sand in there, and when I got to the scales I would engage the PTO, lift the front trailer axle a couple inches and scale legal.
It's an old steel hauler trick.lynchy, jamespmack, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this. -
I book my truck by $ per day and short haul very low miles must be $1200 minimum for the day. Even if you discard the notion of trailer wear from a coil that big I would need to do 3 of them in a day. Right now it’s easy to be over $1200 a day so $1500 for 3 ain’t bad. Think of all the exercise you’ll get chaining and tarping 3x.
This reminds me of when I was a company driver years ago when I started driving. Paid $25 for a trailer move. I would take pallet trailers and deliver them across the street. I’d grab all the BOLs they had like 7 and bang then out in an hour. Serious money back then lol.Last edited: Apr 2, 2023
