Since you don’t have your CDL yet I’d check into taking classes for the ticket related to the accident. If you can get that knocked down then you should be in fine shape to start the CDL process once your speeding tickets drop off.

if you don't have a CDL then go to safety school to keep those points off of your license. Getting tickets & having accidents are NOT just random events, you sound too accepting of stuff just happening. You have to be more careful, like a ticket or accident is the end of the world and not some inconvenience.

    @Matiascleaver
Let's put this into real dollars perspective.
A lawyer will cost you a couple grand at most.
    We'll say 2500
They get the fines and points converted to non moving violations.
    You get your cdl.
Realistic numbers out of school is 50-80k/yr.
For sake of argument, we'll use 65k gross average.
If you get your cdl, and work SAFELY for 3 years, you gross 195,000.
    Conversely...
If you're unable to control yourself behind the wheel, and lose your license, you'll be lucky to pull 15 an hour, or 32500/yr.
    That's a 100k difference in 3 years.
Is it worth it to you to mind yourself and quit being"that guy" behind the wheel?
    It was to me.
30 years ago I had a series of issues and lost my license for a year.
Cost me well over 5k to get it back in 1991.
Here's that difference in real time...
    27 years, 65k/yr, 1,750,000.00
    Almost 2 million dollars.
I actually make much more than that, so my true numbers are closer to 2.25 million.
If you choose McDonald's, you wouldn't even make 900k in the same time frame.
You choose which path you take each time you get behind the wheel. Choose wisely.

Lots of good advice on here for you to think about. I don't want to hound you too much, because you are young, and we all have made some regrettable choices when we were younger.

I just want to give advice going forward. If you are planning on driving semi trucks you really have to understand the damage you can cause with something so big and heavy. Your speeding tickets will fall off soon, and you can probably take a safety course to knock off some points from the accident, and at that point there are many of companies that will hire you. But listen, you just had an incident where you merged into someone. Thankfully it seems like everyone made it out in one piece, but it was an easily avoidable mistake. And the problem is that if you made the same mistake behind the wheel of a semi truck you could have taken someone's life. All we can do is learn from our mistakes and move forward. But maybe if you plan on becoming a career driver, let's try to be a little more attentive and cautious when driving down the road.

Definitely figure out a plan to negotiate the ticket .

In a lot of states , a ticket issued because of an accident is different than a speeding ticket , because the officer did not see the accident and can’t testify to that in court .
If they clock you with the radar , they saw the violation .

in a accident ticket situation ,in my state , if the victim of the accident doesn’t appear in court to give their side of the story , the judge always will dismiss the ticket .
And a lot of times , if your insurance has paid them for their car, and they are not planning to sue you , they won’t show up in court , because everyone assumes of the cop wrote you a ticket , then the cop will show up in court , like they do with speeding tickets

if the victim does appear in court , with an attorney , you then need to ask for a continuance and hire a lawyer , cause you’re fixing to get sued .

If the other folks were transported to the hospital , they’ve already been contacted repeatedly by several ambulance chaser lawyers begging them to sue you .

You need to hire an attorney to get the ticket reduced or dismissed , and if the other party shows up in court or shows up with an attorney , you for sure have to hire one .

Actually public transit wouldn't be a bad idea, can't get tickets or an at fault accident if you're not driving

Facts. But it will happen naturally anyway after being a driver long enough. Wife asks me all the time "why are you so far back, why you going so slow, why you wait too long to turn", just habit. Her driving scares the bejesus out of me.

My GF is the same way, she is the type that races to the redlight only to jack on the brakes.
