No way 8 MPH over is too much.. This industry is going down hill and one way to start cleaning it up is removing these fools with CDL's that think laws don't apply to them.

Imagine the #####ing if Ohio did the same with the endless miles of cones and 50mph speed limit on the turnpike
bzinger Thanks this. -
1 mph is too fast.
And doesn't the fine double?
We had freeway construction not too long ago. DOT seriously screwed up. 45 mph was too fast. Semis were laying down.
You made a right then left for straight again and that section had a couple of bumps to help with the cause. -
1mph doesn’t account for the variance is big truck speedometers. Different tire tread depths can throw off the speedo by 2mph.
someone mentioned the long 50 mph zones on the Ohio turnpike that most ignore. They are pretty ridiculous, went through there the other day. Multiple spots with the right lane coned off with no work being done, no fresh pavement, not a worker or work truck in site. Kind of ridiculous.bzinger, PaulMinternational and snowwy Thank this. -
What can’t you stay in your own lane at 58 mph for a short distance to get some momentum for the hill or are you the one that hits the base with your foot on the brakes and slows traffic to a crawl because you don’t understand how to drive a truck?

They'll mail it to the company, the company will handle it from there. I suspect, they'll pay it and deduct it from the drivers check, if you get enough of them, it'll probably be termination. If I get a toll lane violation, boss will mail it back and say it wasn't us, but a red light or speed zone camera, she hands it to the driver and tells them to take care of it, or she will and deduct it from their check.

Work Zone fatality I witnessed last year. Single lane with pilot car and this guy comes through @ 65mph at least, nobody knows why? By sheer luck nobody but the motorist died. When you're ### is in the line of fire, 5mph UNDER seems fast. That's a Ford Ranchero buried in the milling machine, driver got thrown underneath with his head busted open.

It should be 1 over. There are absolutely two places you should not be going over. School Zones and Active construction zones. Period.

I agree.
Those are two speed traps that should be enforced a LOT more. -
So Two construction zones today, one with miles of wall and workers only at one area about 200 yards long. The workers were in no danger for the miles befor or after that area and there was no need for doing a perfect 50 which as you know is next to impossible. What I find funny is that when I get stuck behind the person that tries to hold that perfect 50 and can’t do it traffic gets real tight behind me, in front of me, beside me. People start weaving and trying to pass even taking chances BUT when I go threw with others who let it flow keep thier speed on the uphills stay within reason on the downhills traffic doesn’t get close and the speeders aren’t taking chances to make a tight squeeze to get by. Heck sometimes no one passes at all as we are reasonably within the range of the cars and they will give up that 2 mph sooner than they will give up ten or more when you can’t keep it flowing.
Then comes your main concern the area the workers are at. Following the guy trying to do the perfect posted speed traffic is backed up, tight, people are tense, your fluctuations are erratic at best those around can’t focus on the hole picture and drive ahead instead they see only your bumper and the car pinned up next to them. So nothing flows smooth and you have created the perfect storm, if something goes wrong at this point it’s more likely to cause a serious accident with little to no reaction time and has the workers in much more danger than when traffic flows threw smoothly.
