That's not all that bad if you can make good money pulling those large oversize loads. What kind of weight is that load?

Man, that’s a bummer. What year are they and miles? Paccar engine? I have really good luck with the T680 but run Cummins engines except these last two.
Edit: Nevermind, I should have finished reading. -
I don’t know if it’s something to do with the 455’s or what, but myself and others I know running the 510’s have a very different experience with the Paccars.
And they must have some funky programming in them to make them downshift 3 gears. That’s like going from 1k to 2k rpm or so.D.Tibbitt, Brettj3876, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -
2020, for mine. It seems like it’s mostly us 680 drivers. The 660 drivers don’t seem to have near the overall issues, except the Cummins topend and connecting rod problems, when they do have something go wrong.
Seems that way between the 455 and 510. I wish they’d buy 510’s and see if there’s a change. However, the partner who does the purchasing seems to think there’s nothing wrong with the T680, despite all of us having problems. It just tells me how far removed he is from the actual operation, despite working in a building 100’ from the HQ shop. I believe, he’s all white collar, has zero mechanical aptitude, and just buys what/how KW tell him. It’s like buy the PACCAR rear suspension versus the Air Glide rear suspension. HUGE difference in ride quality.
Yes. Something in this program can’t be right. It does the downshifts like that all the time. It’s like low-speed, no-throttle maneuvers, it selects 3rd, when it should be 2nd. I’m starting to wonder if they put in a “standard” program, instead of an “eco” program. My buddy had an update put into his 579 and his shop mistakenly did something like that. They went back in and found the tech had done something to that effect on his. HQ is ~90mi north of me, so getting it reprogrammed is a hassle, unless I’m going that way.Long FLD, Siinman and RedForeman Thank this. -
Make you worried about the last two you bought? Will be interesting if the second gen had fixed a lot of those issues.

If we're forced to run emission engines I'd run a Mack/Volvo as well.
