I think their reason for doing it that way is so you can test other types of antennas as well, including the BNC style. From 1kHz, to 1GHz it's certainly not a bad deal at all. Other analyzers are super bulky after you get used to the NanoVNA.

Well a noise blanker on a CB radio is designed to eliminate pulsating noise, like sparkplug & points noise on older cars. You maybe thinking of the ANL circuit which can make a difference in the receiver.

You make a good point about bulky analysers. I still have an old mfj 259. Now that's bulky. Ha.

It's pretty simple when he lets go of his microphone button I can hear plenty far. I only need 5 seconds of silence to know what's going on around me.

Don't even remind me about those things.... Got rid of mine after I learned to use the NanoVNA. I won't go back to the MFJ's

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

It's worth keeping us a backup, but I wouldn't trust MFJ to be as accurate since the measurements vary by temperature.

the Nano VNA is a mini cheap VNA, it isn't easy to use for most, the mfj 259, etc. ... are better for many who need to see what's going on.

Rig Expert is a good compromise.

Does anyone know what a VNA really does?

My RigExpert AA35 is a great tool for setting up and checking my, or a friend's antenna without getting into weeds that I don't totally understand!

It isn't that difficult. Here is even a video on how to set it up.

That is what I love about the RigExpert, it is simple, the nano vna is a bit complicated to many, and it is not really needed for most of the features. You can use a mfj just the same - except what rabbi mentioned.

I don't think many know what a VNA really supposed to do.

I have used different VNA for testing, I even have a Bird VNA which gives out Bird VNA chirps.
