That's one of the reasons I'm done with new vehicles. That and the fact new vehicles are priced about double what they should be.

If I could buy a brand new 40 year car .. yes .. it would be more reliable than a brand new car ..

Im with you……I have a 14 Silverado and the wife has a 15 Traverse. Both just rolled 100k this year and bought both of them used. Plan on keeping them for another 5-10 years. Even when I upgrade, it most certainly won’t be new.

Why is it different, take an Old Diesel Pick Up and a new diesel pick up. Also new cars have all sorts of emissions control stuff like a truck does so really it is not that different. I know a newer car will get easily 200K as an older car was hard to get 50-100K.

I had a 1969 F100 that had major work done on it before 69K that was bought brand new. It was used as a regular driver and also getting firewood. Loved that truck and would love to own another. But it would not out last the last pick up I had that was a 2015 F150 Platinum that I bought brand new. That truck had over 100K with no issues at all. Every car I have owned except one since 2000 has never had any issues. The reliability of a new car is hands down better than an old car. Don't get me wrong on this as I love the older cars and would own one in a heart beat but that is not what I was talking about.

Dad got just under a million miles on his 86 sierra before frame bent . He overloaded that thing with construction tools got stuck everywhere in heavy mud and it kept going and going. Yes it was rusty and took a few junkyard 350’s and transmissions but was reliable as heck .. one simple repair on his newer truck costs more than a engine or transmission in his old one.. lol

While delivering in Florida recently. I noticed that all the Locals picking up feed, half had almost new Dually’s, mostly Ford, a few GM’s. The other half had mid 90’s Dodge’s.

And herein you’ve arrived at my point. You can’t. You’re left with new or worn out old stuff.
