Anyone ever heard of Rosemont Logistics/Rosemont Trucking??

With all the over engineered tech, lack of durability, lack of self repair ability I would never consider owning any new truck, especially not one out of warranty.
I have been in the industry for over 30 years, the good old days of owning a truck went out the window with the end of 3406 B/C, BCIII, IV And early N14 production.
This of course is just my 2 cents.

 

The short answer: no really new/good info on Rosemont Logistics.

Past that....

at present....overall, freight rates are way down, freight volumes are down....yet operating costs remain high.

Most forecasts suggest these conditions will probably not change much anytime soon.....

If you've read/browsed other threads here on the Forum where the participants are in the ownership phase....you can see that it's really tough out there right now.

Presently--to make decent money in your proposed situation, your husband's next carrier will have to have either:

• An existing freight base of very loyal, dedicated customers....or
• Basically a magic crystal ball--to find consistent loads that pay decent overall rates...both going out, and coming back....

...or some combination of both.

Based on what I have read elsewhere here on the Forum of late about current (and predicted) conditions on this subject--I would respectfully suggest that hubby work (for the time being, at least) somewhere as a company driver, minimize your financial obligations, leave the truck ownership and maintenance/repair headaches back on the carrier....and bank as much money as you both can....until later market conditions (and thus--your odds of success) improve considerably.

Some types of freight of course pay better than others--choose wisely.

Overall--instead of "lease-op"....it's nicknamed, "fleece-flop".....for a reason.

The good news: Texas is a great place to find work in the trucking business.

Is it a walkaway lease? Understand that your hubby will have to bust his A#$ to make decent money. Especially with the current rates. He will not be able to take time off because the payments will still be due. Is it a weekly payment or monthly? Can he choose his own loads? Will he be able to verify ratecons? Is he getting 100% of the fuel surcharge? Is the company taking a percentage? I never saw the logic in lease-purchase. You are basically only going to end up making a little more than a company driver (after all the expenses) with a helluva lot more risk. And you have to understand that the company will take care of their company drivers before their lease operators. Why? Because they make more money and they pay their company drivers less. They also have to worry about the expenses associated with company trucks. With lease operators, they pass those expenses onto them instead. The two choices as far as I'm concerned are to be a company driver or to have your own authority.

 

L/P is a concern.Remember, THIS IS GOING TO BE A BUSINESS. Not just another driving job. You need to keep track of EVERYTHING.

 

I would throw a Series 60 in that group. Don't disrespect those old Detroits!

 

I would agree as long as it’s pre EGR and the overhead has been updated.

 

I'm not going to say another word, but I just want you to ponder a question I need to ask you: WHY would a company ONLY have lease operators? Apply simple gaming theory to arrive at your answer. This should be enough to convince you NOT to do a lease purchase. Tell the company to go find some other fool to pay for their company's equipment and expenses AND to give them a substantial chunk of their hard-earned cash to give them a nice profit.
