might of had another 1 or two while I was painting the icc bumper and new mud flaps all set to hang,

slow week with Easter so figured it was a good time to to do some of the small bs that I haven’t felt like doing in the cold

@Catmando No wonder you cattle haulers run 85 everywhere. If you have to run 235K a year and 818 miles a day I guess I would do the same thing.

What is that 18-19 hours a day including loading and unloading, but not including showering and eating? Man that’s rough to do 6 days a week 48 weeks a year. And then find time to BS with all of us! Color me impressed.

I quit that 2 years ago.. only did it for 15 mths helping out a friend with a contract he had
Catch a 3 or 4 hr nap in Gibbon stop by the house couple times durning the week to shower ... slept most the day Sundays. Lived on roller dogs and monsters
5 rounds in 6.5 days per week
I'am to old for a steady diet of that

How many people pulling stepdeck freight, let alone low pro step with 17.5's that deform horribly under load even with 127psi in them & pulls like a sled are averaging above 7mpg.?. 1st qtr ifta, 7.36mpg to be exact on winter fuel..

1994 Cummins, that's got at least 1.35 million & never been overhauled. Now my oil bill is a different story.. lol

The Detroit's are insane. My '93 had a '92 DDEC II for power. Those ifta reports were consistently in the low to mid 8's with a best ever of 9.09mpg for a summer qtr. Even triggered an audit on me 2 yrs ago. That truck had at least 1.15 million on the clock, not rebuilt. Foolishly had a cam put in her & she never ran quite as well as before..

Old vs new, I'm in the camp that early electronic fuel injection is the way to go. Not much more to go wrong than a mechanical, still very reliable, & excellent fuel mileage can be had.. So early to mid 90's is where I'm comfortable. Preferably built before 3/1/97 as I got no use for abs either..

I'm not against newer equipment. Just scared to own it quite frankly..

I’ve never liked abs. It’s for dummies. I don’t care what the tests show. Sure it pumps the brakes faster than a human can. The problem is having to stand in them and still won’t stop in the same (shorter) distance. My first Truck with abs took some getting used to. I’ve had a couple close calls over the years, where I barely stopped. Thinking for sure there’d be an accident. Bigger difference also Loaded vs. heavy. Light seems too touchy, Loaded seems like they’re fading. Before abs, you had whatever your foot decided. Much better and IMO better for me anyways.

I would agree as well. Had too many close calls in a car that would have stopped faster without the abs. I get it for some things but I am not a fan of them either. Of course in a truck I hardly use my breaks so not an issue for me to this point. The handful of times I had to get hard on the brakes it did not do anything to mess with me.
