I would like to know who trained him to park on the street like that. You don't try to load stuff like that on the service road, without flaggers and such. I used to work in Houston hauling equipment just like that, on the same type of trailer.

The rental place that delivered a small bulldozer to our job site , parked in the state highway , and unloaded it .

It was a two lane rural highway and they just parked in the highway .

I could see that if that was the only option, but with someone at least flagging traffic. If I were in that situation I would have loaded with the basket towards the truck. Might get pretty screwed up from the impact, but more likely to survive than riding with the basket a foot or two from the floor of the trailer.

EDIT: Another news report said the driver was standing beside his truck so I guess he had already loaded it. That is a terrible tragic accident.

I see this alot in the midwest, electric line workers usually have signs but others on shoulder or road where the isnt one often do not... I suspect lack of safety training

Yeah, I bet staring today, the company will require drivers to have flaggers, flairs, cones, light bars on the trucks & no telling what else in place from now on.

I also got the impression he was standing in the grass. I also see no cones, flares or triangles.

Nonetheless, it should've been abundantly clear to an attentive driver that the lane was blocked.
