I have to think that someone will come up with a work-around for that at some point if the demand for it is there.
We don't put enough miles on a truck to warrant thinking about buying new. The only way it would make sense is for taxes, but we are far better off purchasing more heavy equipment rather than a truck.
That said, what Elkhorn is doing would be worth looking at pretty hard if we were to look at upgrading our trucks, at least for our use.Geronimo17, Rideandrepair, ducnut and 6 others Thank this. -
Pretty sure they still have it. The guy down the road from us has 10-12 Macks and has a few newer mid roofs. 2 are brand new he got probably about 6 months agoRideandrepair, ducnut, Siinman and 2 others Thank this.

A new truck would last you guys an eternity. The only drawback I see in your situation is the area you guys work. If it did go down(and let’s face it they all do) it would be a royal PIA to get it repaired. I also agree that your business would benefit more from purchasing heavy equipment than another truck. But if you really want another old 4 axle…

maybe you can let @tramm01 drive it.IH9300SBA, Rideandrepair, Feedman and 1 other person Thank this. -
No, I just hate how they look haha. Pulling a smooth bore tank I’m sure it’d be beneficial. An aero advantage for pulling a bottle would be negligible in my situation as we may drive 300 miles on a lot of two lane but also sit and run a pto for at least 3 hrs/day. Most guys I know get mid to upper 5s in the winter regardless of truck.Last edited: Apr 22, 2023
