As you prolly know there is automotive supply manufacturing all around this area. Most will want experience. But perhaps PAM will consider. MTS worth looking into as well

 

Yep. CEVA, Venture Express, Charger, New Malwa, and so many more. I’d suggest the OP drive around the plants and T1 suppliers, taking note of the companies going in/out of these places.

 

There’s no way I would do it for $250 a day .DG advertising at $100,000 .I would definitely check that out first.

Anyone deliver to the Dollar General in Galveston TX, The thing is built like 15 feet above grade level, must be a pain in the ### unloading.

 

The dollar accounts are TOUGH for any driver but potentially disastrous for new or bad drivers. While the conditions have slightly improved, for DG, they are probably the absolute worst for horrible stores to access. The newbs want to go to the accounts because they offer more home time and more pay.. but the inexperienced and or poor drivers will end up getting only hometime, because they will overstay their experience and end up looking for work with a new CDL and three or more preventable accidents on their records..

 

Yep. I look at the layout of almost every DG I drive past and realize the total lack of consideration those people have for their delivery drivers. I would never work for an organization like that.

Years ago, I used to run ramps. I had a BK which sat at the corner of an entrance to a huge mall. It offered a rear, employee lot where I could park and wheel from. Renovations eliminated that lot, because they lengthened the drive-thru all the way back there, so they could have more people stuck in line, waiting. Employees had to park in the mall lot. Deliveries had to be made from the mall entrance, blocking it while delivering. When I went there for their first restocking delivery, I voiced my displeasure with what they had done. The area manager said “Deliveries are your problem; not ours.”. I responded with “Actually, deliveries ARE your problem, because I’m leaving.” And drove away. I can’t block the mall entrance and they eliminated access to the back door, from the other side of the building. I refuse to compromise myself, because of the ignorance of others.

I’ve been running local, on a couple contracts. Yesterday, one of our account managers tried to get me to use the 16hr exemption, so I could cover his mistake. I refused, because it would’ve put me at 67hrs for the week (M-F) and I’m simply not going to be pushed by a 40hr employee to work just that many more hours. Decisions are never made at their expense; they’re always made at the drivers’ expense. Screw that. I’m done being abused.
